My Story

After working for corporate America for more than 15 years, I found myself looking for my next position due to a job elimination.  

My former employer provided outplacement services which included working with a career coach and access to a job networking club.  At the time, I had children in elementary school and was committed to finding a job with a flexible schedule.  I started interviewing.  After searching for several months, I seemed to find great jobs that were high paying without any flexibility or flexible jobs that paid poorly. I was so frustrated! I wanted it all! 

Things really came to a head after I interviewed with a Pharma company.  It was one of those magical interviews where everything flowed.  The people I met with were awesome, the interviews were actually enjoyable with positive conversations about strategy, culture and teams.  I gleefully called my husband from the car letting him know I found a home.  Within 48 hours, I received a call from the hiring manager and she walked me through the offer.  It had all the fixings, high salary, 401k, benefits and a generous sign on bonus.  All set, next I asked if there was any flexibility with schedules, Dead Silence on the other end of the phone.  Now mind you I was just floating out the idea of leaving the office a little early sometimes or tele-commuting occasionally- still full time.  The hiring manager said she would have to discuss it with her boss.  She called me back to say they didn’t really have anything like that although every couple of months she worked from home and sometimes I could do that.  Now – I said I’d have to think about it and call her back.  My husband and I brainstormed ideas on how to make it work – after much discussion I declined the offer.  It just wouldn’t work given our commitment to our family and life balance.

Sure it was disappointing that the job didn’t work out, but the real problem for me was Now What?!!  I had to totally regroup, in other words, I had to reinvent my career after 20 years of being in one field.

For months, I explored various career options through multiple exercises and assessments while also investigating, networking, journaling, creating vision boards and uncovering my unique brand.  Although I didn’t realize it at the time, I was looking to align my life purpose with my career.   During that time, I went through a circuitous series of steps to uncover my next career. 

After months of feeling stuck,  I confidently made a decision and committed to what I seemed to know in my heart for years:  I wanted to Connect people with the careers and businesses they love.

Leveraging my own career exploration, I created a proven process, the Reinvent Your Career System™ to assist others in finding their calling and integrating it into their work.

It’s been 5 years since I founded my Career Coaching business and still love it!  Last year, I doubled my income and expanded my services.
